Privacy Policy

What we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how to get it removed. Written in plain English — no nested legalese, no boilerplate copied from a template.

  • Updated 2026-06-05
  • GDPR & UK DPA aligned
  • No newsletter, no PII collection

1. Who we are

OpesAdvisors is an editorial publication that reviews retail forex brokers, crypto exchanges and proprietary trading firms. The site is operated by an independent editorial team — Laura West, Mike Volkov and Tom Nakamura — whose profiles you can read at /authors/. We are the data controller for any reader data described below.

Editorial enquiries, data requests and correction notices all reach the same address: [email protected].

2. What we collect

We do not run a newsletter, do not require account registration, do not display social-login buttons, and do not embed third-party widgets that fingerprint visitors. The site collects two categories of data:

2.1 Anonymous page analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics platform that does not set persistent identifiers, does not use cookies for visitor tracking, and does not retain IP addresses beyond aggregate country resolution. We see country, device class, referrer and the URL viewed — never reader identity. Cloudflare documents the technical detail at cloudflare.com/web-analytics.

2.2 Affiliate referral attribution

When you click an outbound link to a broker, exchange or prop firm we cover, the destination platform may set its own cookies to attribute the referral. The cookie is set by the destination, on the destination's domain — not by us. We pass a tracking parameter (e.g. a partner ID) in the URL; we do not see what you subsequently do on the broker's site. Detail on the commercial relationship lives at how we make money.

3. Cookies on our domain

The OpesAdvisors site itself sets no first-party tracking cookies. A small functional cookie may be used to remember your country preference if you change it manually through the country selector — this is local-only and is not transmitted to us. The full cookie inventory and management options are documented at our cookie policy.

4. Third parties

The only third parties that may receive data about your visit are:

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, TikTok Pixel, or any retargeting platform. We do not sell, share or rent any data.

5. Your rights under GDPR and the UK DPA

If you live in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or a jurisdiction with comparable data protection legislation, you have the right to:

Send rights requests to [email protected]. We respond within 30 days as required under Article 12 GDPR.

6. Data retention

Cloudflare Web Analytics aggregates are retained for 6 months by Cloudflare. We retain no reader-level data ourselves. Email correspondence sent to [email protected] is retained for as long as needed to resolve the enquiry and then archived for up to 24 months for audit purposes.

7. Changes to this policy

Material changes to this policy are dated at the top of this page and announced in the editorial notes section of the homepage for 30 days. We do not email subscribers about policy changes because we do not have a subscriber list.

8. Contact

Data requests, complaints, corrections, takedowns: [email protected]. The full contact page lists topic-routing guidance for non-privacy enquiries.
