Our Hungarian shortlist filters for brokers with active MNB registration or a valid passport, HUF or EUR funding, and Hungarian or English support.

Regulation in Hungary

Hungary requires authorisation from the MNB (Magyar Nemzeti Bank, which absorbed the former PSZÁF financial supervisor) or MiFID II passporting from another EEA regulator. ESMA retail leverage caps apply: 1:30 majors, 1:20 minors and gold, 1:2 crypto CFDs, with mandatory negative-balance protection. The MNB publishes warnings on unauthorised providers.

Tax Note for Hungary

Hungarian trading profits are generally taxed at a flat 15% personal income tax rate in 2026, and a social contribution tax (szocho) can also apply to certain investment income up to a cap. A tartós befektetési számla (TBSZ / long-term investment account) offered by Hungarian institutions can reduce or eliminate tax after a holding period, but offshore CFD brokers do not offer it.
