Egypt has a large and growing retail trading community. No broker holds an Egyptian retail forex licence, because the FRA does not issue one, so every broker an Egyptian trader can use is offshore and the quality of that offshore regulator is your main line of defence. EGP volatility and capital controls push funding through local cards, e-wallets and USDT. Regulation in Egypt

Egypt regulates non-banking financial markets through the FRA (Financial Regulatory Authority), with the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) overseeing banking and foreign exchange. The FRA does not currently license retail OTC forex or CFD brokers, so residents trade with offshore-regulated brokers (FCA, ASIC, CySEC, FSCA) in a legal grey zone. There is no local compensation scheme for offshore forex accounts, so recourse runs through the broker foreign regulator.

Tax Note for Egypt

Egyptian tax residents are in principle taxable on income, and active trading gains through offshore brokers are most safely treated as taxable income declared to the Egyptian Tax Authority. Foreign brokers do not withhold Egyptian tax, and enforcement on individual offshore-broker profits is limited in practice, but the safest position is to declare.
