Best Brokers, Exchanges & Prop Firms in South Korea (2026)

South Korea regulates leveraged FX and CFDs domestically and strictly. The FSC and FSS cap retail leverage low, require face-to-face verification, and channel margin FX through authorised domestic brokers, in response to the 2023 CFD manipulation scandal. Our Korean shortlist is honest about this: the compliant route is a domestic FSC-authorised broker, while offshore brokers that accept Korean clients do so outside the local regime. We lead with the regulated domestic option and flag KRW funding and Korean-language support.

Regulation in South Korea

South Korea regulates leveraged trading domestically through the FSC (Financial Services Commission) and the FSS (Financial Supervisory Service) under the Financial Investment Services and Capital Markets Act (FSCMA). Retail CFD leverage is tightly capped (generally around 1:5 to 1:10), face-to-face account authentication is required, and margin FX must go through an authorised domestic investment broker. Global offshore brokers are generally not FSC-authorised for Korean retail clients, so the fully compliant route is a licensed domestic broker.

Tax Note for South Korea

South Korea taxes trading gains through the National Tax Service (NTS). Gains on overseas and derivative products can attract a capital gains tax (commonly around 22% including local surtax on overseas-asset gains above the annual exemption), and a broader financial investment income tax regime has been debated and repeatedly deferred. Domestic brokers may withhold or report; offshore-broker gains must be self-declared. Confirm your own position with a Korean tax adviser.
